After a ten month wait the Observatory has finally arrived. As you can see the construction has also begun on Gails Patio next to the observatory actually I may enjoy it as well;-) I feel fortunate to have Lakemaster the company that is installing our deck dock also was interested in assembling our Observatory. With there experiance in building docks and boat houses I,m very comfortable with choosing them from there present and past services they have done for us and the quality of there work I could'nt be happier that there erecting our Observatory for us.
Back from ChiTown
After a 8hr round trip drive to west side of Chicago near Joliet Illinois where the company Pier-Tech Inc. is located who built my Observatory and the pier for my telescope. we finally made it home about 9pm and luckily had enough juice left to unloaded all the pieces for the Observatory. Now it,s time to get started!
Let the building begin.
As you can see all the electric and data lines have been buried underground and ready to hook up as soon as the build is complete.
Pier for the Planewave L350
This black heavy duty pier is for my new mount the Planewave L350. My plans for this new mount is to carry two of my telescopes. On one side will be my Takahahshi TOA150B and the other will be my Takahashi FSQ106X4.
Pier-Tech Pier2
This pier is really cool it's able to raise a total of 20 inches strtaight up which allows the telescope to be above the walls in order to aim my telescope as low as the horizon. On this Pier I plan for it to carry my Celestron 11 inch F2 RASA a heavy scope but will be no problem for this sturdy pier.
The Deck Dock
We had a slab poured at 20' X 16' X 6" the Observatory is 15' x 10' leaving a 6' area next to the water to add our Deck Dock to. Being that the Deck Dock is 8' X 20' it will give us an area 14' X 20' for our rest and relaxation right next to the Observatory. Just what I'll need after all this is said and done.
Parts and Pieces
After reading building instructions we positioned our prebuilt walls near the positions for them to be erected. Unfortunatly this week of construction has been the hottest days of the summer here in 2023 with heat index of 105 and even higher due to the high humidity. So as we've all heard before the show must go on and that's exactly what were going to do, continue till were satisfied with our Pier-Tech Inc. Tele 5 Obsevatory the new home of Jim's Astroverse Studios.
